Frost

Description

The other day I looked out the window and everything was frosty, so naturally I went out and took pictures. :p Not much else to say about it. I messed with the cropping for SO LONG, because there was a distracting leaf in the bottom left that I eventually dropped the exposure on with the adjustment brush in Lightroom, because cropping it out didn't look good. Still not sure if I'm completely satisfied with it, but oh well. Frost is fun to photograph, even in the morning. XP

My apologies for taking so long to critique this!

Well, first of all, I love the composition! The angle of the all the leaves and how you managed to capture so many while still working with the focus is brilliant! Excellent work there.

The exposure is pretty low, and in my opinion it takes away from the detail. You could manually adjust it in an editing program, just brighten it with curves or levels. However, if you had a tripod or can hold your hand fairly steady, try a slower shutter speed. You might also need a higher ISO, but don't go too high because then you'll create unwanted grain. Either of those methods allow more light to enter through the camera. This site has a lot of helpful tips on shutter speed, ISO, and aperture. :)

The detail on those bottom right petals is fantastic! Do you have any close ups of that particular one? The one next to it is slightly blurred, but it looks as if it has all those individual frost spots as well. Those little things can make for a great photo if you play with the focus and composition!

Other than that, you've got the right idea! Keep it up.
